Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7 (ESV)

As I think about how much the Lord has given me in my life, I realize just how amazing His love and generosity is for the world. I have been blessed with a loving wife to share in life's journey. Four children have called me Dad; I watch in amazement as they grow as Christians. A mom and dad, grandmas and grandpas shared faith, hope, and love. These riches cannot be measured.

I have felt pain, no more or less than others. My dad died young, my mom even younger. All my grandparents are gone. But the Lord gave healing. The loss could never diminish the joy.

The lord has provided for me daily. I have just what I need. Yet through sin in the Devil, the world, and myself, I lose sight of these gifts. It is only when I listen to the Spirit that my mind and heart are clear. And on this spiritual journey my faith is ever increased and I am strengthened by the word of God.

God gave as no one can, in the ransom sacrifice of our savior Jesus Christ. The price Jesus paid is more than the whole of the world can afford. Yet it was given freely.

So, it is with a cheerful heart that I give back to the Lord. I do not give to be saved. I am saved so I give. God will use these gifts of time, talent, and treasure according to His plan.

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19 (ESV)
